The laws enacted by the Missouri General Assembly have an enormous impact on our natural environment and on the health of our state’s citizens. That’s why Missouri Votes Conservation works hard to pass and support legislation that protects the environment.
Our legislative program includes:
- Tracking and monitoring environmental bills currently moving through the legislature. The 2012 legislative session began January 4th. Throughout the session, MVC will post updates on environmental and conservation bills on our Environmental Legislative Tracker page. Check back frequently for updates to this bill list. For information on the 2011 session, please refer to our 2011 Legislative Wrap-Up page.
- Convening the Missouri Conservation and Environmental Alliance, a coalition of groups that advocate for sound environmental legislation in the state Capitol.
- Teaching citizens to lobby for the environment through our annual Conservation Lobby Day.
As hard as MVC and our partners work to protect the environment in Jefferson City, the voice of citizens like YOU is what really makes the difference. So please be sure to sign up to receive our periodic email updates on environmental bills, then contact your state senator and representative to let them know what you think. When lawmakers hear from their constituents, they pay attention. To find out who your elected officials are, visit our Legislator Look-Up page.
