- Global Climate Change Impacts in the United States, White House report released June 16, 2009. Describes in plain language the impacts of climate change on energy, water, agriculture and health. The Key Findings provide a good summary. The report also looks at regional impacts, including the Midwest.
- Confronting Climate Change in the U.S. Midwest, Union of Concerned Scientists, 2009. Provides an in-depth look at the potential consequences of climate change in the U.S. Midwest.
- Greenhouse Gas Emission Trends and Projections for Missouri, 1990-2015, Prepared by John Noller, August 1999, MoDNR. Report tracking Missouri’s GHG emissions and projects future levels.
- Adaptation Planning - What U.S. State and Localities are Doing, Prepared for the Pew Center on Global Climate Change, September 2008. Describes the adaption planning to mitigate climate change that is being undertaken in the U.S. Page 13 of the report shows that Missouri’s plan is out of date.
- Understanding and Responding to Climate Change, The National Academies. 2008 Edition. Report on the scientific evidence of climate change and how it should impact policy-making.
- Effects of climate change in Missouri take root, Michael Amantea, Columbia Missourian, March 9, 2009. Article describes some of the current and future effects of climate change in Missouri and the Midwest, especially on weather patterns and bird populations, as discussed at the 2009 Missouri Natural Resources Conference.
Policy
- Policy Innovation in Action: Greening Communities in Washington, Green For All excerpt from Greener Pathways report. In 2007, Washington passed a law, Senate Bill 6001, to reduce GHG emissions and create a green jobs program.
- Florida's Energy and Climate Change Action Plan, Executive Summary. The report contains 50 policy recommendations that, if implemented, would significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and generate billions in economic savings. Florida's plan serves as an excellent example of state climate plans.
