The mission of the
Heat is On campaign is to build a clean energy future for America in order to get our economy moving and to combat global warming. The campaign, a project of the
League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, is primarily engaged in 14 states across the U.S. – including Missouri – in an effort to encourage Congressional leaders to take action.
The goals of the
Heat is On campaign include getting our country to:
- Move to clean energy sources such as wind and solar
- Cut our dependence on oil
- Create new clean energy jobs
- Reduce global warming pollution
In Missouri, the Heat is On campaign works with other community and environmental organizations to accomplish its goals. Our in-state partners include Sierra Club, Audubon Missouri, Natural Resource Defense Council, and the Pew Environment Group.
Ed Smith is Missouri Votes Conservation Education Fund's Climate Change Coordinator for the campaign. He is working to build grassroots support in Missouri for strong federal action on legislation addressing global warming. Building a coalition with rural community groups, labor, social justice interests and environmental organizations, Ed is working with voters and community leaders to push for real leadership on climate change.
