2009 Conservation Lobby Day

Conservation Lobby Day is huge success!

115 citizens from around the state gathered at the state Capitol for Conservation Lobby Day on February 17.  At this annual event, lobbying groups contacted over 90 legislators to discuss a wide range of environmental and conservation issues, including green building, energy efficiency, sustainable agriculture, solid waste control, transportation, sand and gravel mining, and utility regulation (including CWIP).  They not only met with Senators and Representatives from their own districts, but also with lawmakers who hold key positions on various legislative committees that deal with conservation issues.

Lobby Day attendees represented a diversity of conservation interests, from environmentalists, scientists, students and business owners to hunters, anglers and farmers.  The event's huge turnout demonstrates both the size and diversity of the environmental community, showing legislators in Jefferson City that we are an active constituency.

Fact sheets on the various issues that were distributed to legislators at Conservation Lobby Day are available here.
